Off-Duty. Outnumbered. | The Killing of Officer Alhassane Barry | A Developing Story

Philadelphia Police Officer Alhassane Barry, 29, was shot and killed while off duty outside Nipsey's, an unlicensed after-hours lounge in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philadelphia, in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 16, 2026. A second man was also shot and remains hospitalized. Investigators say they identified the man they believe fired the shots days later and are in contact with his attorney — but as of this recording, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has not filed charges, and the suspect's name has not been publicly released. DA Larry Krasner says the man does not dispute possessing or firing the gun, but that ballistics and forensic review — which could take up to two months — will help determine what happened and whether any charges are warranted. Nothing in this video is a conviction; the case remains under investigation.
