The world’s first global professional dance league, IDL, officially kicked off its season in New York City as elite dance teams from around the world competed in front of a sold-out Hammerstein Ballroom. Global superstar Saweetie brought the house down with a high-energy halftime performance of hit songs like “Best Friend,” “Tap In,” and “My Type” that had the already electric crowd on their feet, becoming one of the standout moments from the highly anticipated launch event. Danielle Cabral of The Real Housewives of New Jersey made it a date night with husband Nate, as the pair were spotted in the athlete village where Danielle stopped by for touch-ups with e.l.f. Cosmetics before the two enjoyed a quick game of ping pong at the C’roc lounge. Meanwhile, Ebonee Noel of the hit television show, FBI, was seen dancing in the VIP lounge alongside actor and influencer Joshua Uduma during Saweetie’s performance.
The six founding professional teams representing major dance hubs around the world including Brotherhood (Vancouver, Canada), Quick Style (Oslo, Norway), Jam Republic (Singapore), GRV (Los Angeles, USA), Royal Family (Auckland, New Zealand), and 1MILLION (Seoul, South Korea), competed for the New York Series Champion title, with Vancouver’s Brotherhood taking first place, Quick Style in second, and Royal Family in third.
Brand partners including e.l.f. Cosmetics, Honda, Shopify, and C’roc were on display as fans gathered for an evening celebrating dance, culture, athleticism, and live entertainment on a global scale. Each upcoming IDL event will feature standardized judging and championship titles modeled after traditional professional sports leagues, with the season finale set to take place in Los Angeles on September 20th.
